Service Description
Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic and challenging sequence of poses that are meant for purification of the body and mind. Traditional Ashtanga uses the same sequence and series of poses in each of the six series. Ashtanga focuses on synchronizing breath with movement, developing one-pointed concentration, and cultivating strength with flexibility. This class will focus on the Primary series, or yoga chikitsa, which is regarded as yoga therapy for the physical body. It is a sequence of postures (asanas) each designed to prepare the body for the next posture. Modifications will be given for the more advanced poses. The physical body is cleansed and detoxified in this series.
