The benefits of practicing yoga!

You may already know that practicing yoga can help increase flexibility, strength, stamina, balance, improve coordination, calm the mind and help you find inner peace on and off the mat, BUT did you know that practicing yoga can also help to keep you from getting sick, AND relieve symptoms, helping you heal faster when you do get sick!?

Halasana or Plow pose, can help clear blocked up sinuses, restoring the adrenal glands (which produce hormones and cortisol). It improves the blood circulation in the body, setting up a clear pathway for detox! It stimulates the abdominal organs and thyroid gland helping to reset the parasympathetic system, allowing it to heal the body more efficiently! It also calms the brain and reduces stress and fatigue, making this pose very beneficial to help keep us from getting sick and to help us heal when we are sick!

In this pose we want to keep the back and the knees straight, and keep the shoulders down away from the ears. If you find that difficult or are having issues getting your feet to the ground, no worries! Simply do this pose by a wall and instead of bringing your feet to the ground, place them on the wall with the feet flat to the wall, and keep your hands on your lower back to help support it! It's much better to modify the pose keeping the neck and spine safe then it is to try and force the body into the full expression of the pose and end up with an injury! After all you will get the same wonderful benefits of this pose either way!
