Full Moon Reiki Healing Circle For Emotional Blockages

Everyone at some time or another in their lives has gone through an emotional blockage, and they are extremely difficult to handle, especially when trying to handle them alone. Emotional blockages can affect our cognitive skills, emotions, behaviors at work, with family, friends, and even our love lives.

 

An emotional blockage is a defense mechanism our brain uses to prevent us from feeling emotions normally. Often times this defense mechanism occurs after we have experienced a traumatic event as a way for the brain to try and protect us. While it may be helpful in the moment it is created, it actually prevents us from healing and moving forward, thinking clearly, and affects our daily actions.

 

Emotional blockages present themselves in a variety of ways. Here's how can you tell if you are suffering from an emotional blockage:

  • You feel stuck, lost, trapped, or paralyzed, and feel like there is no way out

  • You feel so nervous about important situations that you can't react

  • You feel as though you can't get over some aspect of your life

  • You avoid people or social situations

  • You have increased anxiety, stress, or worrying about certain things

  • You have a lack of motivation that lasts for a long time and affects different areas of your life

  • You feel negative emotions such as- fear, anger, jealousy, resentment- with greater intensity than before

  • You have difficulty making decisions

  • You have trouble thinking clearly, are often confused, or don't know what to say

Emotional blockages train our minds to react to painful events by brushing them aside and not expressing them. When we do this we are not allowing ourselves to heal from these events so we are just holding on to the event and the pain they have caused us. This causes us to feel other emotions such as anger, fear, resentment, jealousy, and so on even more intensely. Eventually if our emotional blockages are left unhealed they can start to affect our physical health.

The consequences of unhealed emotional blockages can manifest in different ways such as:

  • Stomach ulcers

  • Gastritis

  • Skin conditions

  • Asthma

  • Colitis

  • Autoimmune conditions

  • Substance addictions

  • Increased experience of negative emotions at extreme levels such as anger or resentment

  • Low self esteem

  • Limited social skills, separation from friends and family
